Sawnee Mountain Hike. Cummin, GA

Sawnee Mountain is a 963 acre preserve in Cumming, GA. It has a rich native american history, which you can explore a little bit in the visitor center. It is recorded in historical journals that as white settlers migrated to the area, now known as Cumming, a local Cherokee named Sawnee helped them adjust to the native land. As a well skilled carpenter and farmer he was known throughout the land. He was later driven away from their native lands by these white settlers and died while traveling on the Trail of Tears. The range was named in his honor.

There are 3 access points, we usually start at the visitor cernter in Spot Rd, since it is close to the Fairy Trail, which is a kid favorite.
