It has been almost three months since we left the United States, and it has been quite the roller coaster. We’ve loved exploring Mexico, missed the comforts and friends from home, and felt the pull to move on to our next destination. Amid all these feelings, we’re learning to stay focused on the present, knowing that the circumstances that make this trip possible could change in a heartbeat. Flexibility is key; we’re ready to return home or head somewhere new at any time.
In this heightened state of emotions, fresh perspectives, and awareness, we find ourselves becoming more creative and adventurous. We’re saying “yes” more often to things we might not have tried before. With this slower pace, my husband (Calvin) and middle daughter (Dana) have started creating music and making music videos. My son (Dean) found a professional association of game developers, joined on his own, and started attending virtual events and game testing programs. My youngest (Makena) (7yrs old) has developed an interest in cooking and wants to be in the kitchen with me any time she sees movement there. And as for me, I’m trying to learn more about photography, videography, and video editing.
I feel excited about finding new passions, growing closer as a family, and experiencing life with a fresh perspective. I’ll leave you with a music video that Calvin and Dana worked on during El Día de los Muertos here in Querétaro, Mexico. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it.
