All Systems Red by Martha WellsMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
“So, I’m awkward with actual humans. It’s not paranoia about my hacked governor module, and it’s not them; it’s me. I know I’m a horrifying murderbot, and they know it, and it makes both of us nervous, which makes me even more nervous.”
In this book, a sentient bot that has been deployed on a research mission as a security unit for a team of scientists takes the first steps toward asserting himself as an independent agent after hacking his governor module. It is interesting to read because you have something that is manmade asking the typical questions that humans ask themselves and trying to define itself based on what has happened to it in the past and the idea of who it would like to be in the future based on studying humans mostly through television series, and through trying to decode newly present “feelings”.
This series would for sure have you using your best manners with chat GPT:) Please and thank you.
