Artificial Condition by Martha WellsMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
“Sometimes people do things to you that you can’t do anything about. You just have to survive it and go on”
This book was just as good or better than the first one of the series. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of self-discovery in which the sentient bot self-named “murderbot” precipitously blurs the line between what it means to be a piece of equipment vs a free-thinking, free-acting being.
In this book, Murderbot is passing as an augmented human to achieve his mission (because of course he is trying to understand what happened in his murderous past), he gets a job as a free agent with the help of a friend (you are going to love his new friend!) and finds that he might not be the only one of his kind along the way.
Something big is about to happen! So…on to book number 3!
