We decided to move from Medellin to El Carmen del Viboral in Antioquia because we felt rather overwhelmed with the level of noise and pollution in the city.
El Carmen del Viboral is a small town, 1.5 hrs away from Medellin. This town is known for its amazing ceramics industry and for the kindness of its people. I seriously have never met nicest people anywhere else.
Here are some details about the property:
The main square is just 20 min walking from the property, and there are countless things to do within walking distance.
- With 5G high speed internet, living in the mountains has never been better for a digital nomad
- The weather is perfect, and hearing the birds sing daily and not the noise of cars and busses was one of the biggest plusses. If you have a zoom lens for your camera, you are in birdwatching heaven
- The kitchen is fully equipped.
- The amount of restaurants and cafes to choose from within walking distance is ridiculous
- There are two corner stores just within walking distance
- There is a grocery store by the main road ( less than 10 min by foot)
- Viboral Ceramics is also by the main road, and you can tour the ceramics factory and paint your own mug or plate. The experience is very hands-on during the entire tour
- Taxi drivers arrive easily to the property
- Groceries can be delivered from different stores in town. Our favorite was Simona
- Healthcare is not a problem and there are so many pharmacies to choose from
- There are also many butcher shops to choose from
- The neighbors are very friendly and vigilant of the neighborhood
- The area feels very save, we have been out on foot at different hours of the day/night with children and never felt unsafe.
- It is very easy to access public transportation to go to neighboring towns and attractions, such as Rionegro, Santuario, La Ceja, El Retiro, and Medellin.
- And last but not least, the host is extremely helpful.
